It’s the wild, wild west when it comes to dating, and let that sentiment sway to your advantage. When the apps are about as useful as your grandma's match-making skills, every time you leave the house needs to be treated as a potential meet-cute opportunity. Some places are better-suited to meet people than others, however, and these bars I’m about to disclose happen to have “singles looking to mingle” written all over them.

When arguably most of New York’s bars are talking bars, meeting your next fling is a pretty accomplishable feat if you’re partaking in the city’s nightlife scene… that is, if people are actually talking to people who they didn’t show up with.

Fear not, because something about the energy at these institutions just screams “talk to me!” even if we undeniably shit on many of them (New Yorkers love to complain, duh). So the next time you’re trying to take your dating endeavors off the couch, rest assured that love is hiding in the corners of the Spaniard where you may or may not run into your Hinge roster in person (but that’s beside the point).
