Vintage designer consignment shops nyc

Why is there no better feeling than saying, “Thanks, it’s vintage,” after somebody compliments your latest splurge?

Fine, I exaggerated (shocker).

“Thanks, it’s Chanel Haute Couture” is a million times more satisfying, but beggars can’t be choosers — not in this climate. Ugh, I sound like my dad when I show him my Hinge likes.

Nonetheless, there’s something oddly satisfying about owning a one-of-a-kind piece nobody else can get their hands on. Despite second-hand becoming somewhat mainstream, nobody rocks a vintage frock quite like Sophie Cohen (you may know her as Soco).

Sophie is exactly what I imagine Carrie Bradshaw to be if she traded in her newspaper dress for pink cheetah Roberto Cavalli pants.  Unapologetically bold like her predecessor, Sophie defies style conventions through genius pattern mixing and unpredictable color and texture combinations.

Sophie’s radiant spirit and larger-than-life creativity have already reenergized the influencer space, and I cannot wait to see what the icon-in-the-making does next.

Below are the best consignment shops in New York City, curated by the queen of vintage.

Crossroads Trading Co

Website

If you follow me, you know that Crossroads is one of my favorite stores EVER… I think like 30% of my closet is from here. Although you may have to dig a bit more, you can always find an amazing vintage designer piece or something great under $50. I love that you can literally go every day and find something new (makes it a bit dangerous for sure ;)). East Village and Williamsburg locations are my fave!

2nd Street USA

Website

One thing I’ve learned about vintage shopping in New York is that the more merchandise you have to go through, the better prices you’ll get. 2nd Street is similar to Crossroads in that way. It can sometimes be a pain to dig through everything here, but you can also find some incredible designer pieces. Orchard Street location is my fave and filled with vintage Courreges!

Allison’s Archive

Website

This shop is a bit pricier than the first few, but I think Allison’s pieces are worth it! If you want to emulate my sense of style, she truly curates the most fun, eclectic, girly, archival vintage designer pieces. Her items have been seen on Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo and more. I have borrowed pieces from her for so many fabulous occasions. Book an appointment at her showroom for all of the it-girl energy.

Tokio 7

Website

This East Village spot is a must. Amazing selection of vintage designer, contemporary labels, streetwear brands and more. Very well priced, and you’ll always find something exciting and interesting from a brand you love!

Heart and Lous

Website

I adore popping into this little Soho vintage boutique. Heart and Lous has a great curation of some of my personal favorite brands to source vintage, such as Dolce, Cavalli, JPG… the list goes on. Heartleigh, the owner, is so sweet and stylish and finds the BEST pieces. It’s a little bit on the pricier end of this list, but definitely worth a visit.

Superette Vintage

Website

I discovered this fabulous store through the Manhattan Vintage Show last summer. I bought my treasured ruffled Christian Lacroix skirt from the owner. This is an LES vintage store with INCREDIBLE finds for INCREDIBLE prices.

INA Designer Consignment

Website

INA is an amazing designer consignment shop that has been around for a while. I've been going for years, but their selection has been really epic recently. While some of the stuff is a bit expensive, they always have some sort of sale section. You can definitely find some treasures here.

No Standing NYC

Website

Another great store for vintage designer finds. They just opened a new store on West Houston Street, so you should definitely check it out! No Standing always has a wide range of items and great, well-priced designer handbags. Would be a great place to pick out a birthday gift for yourself.

Beacon’s Closet

Website

Beacon’s Closet is a great place to go with a friend who is down for the hunt and can spend hours browsing. They have great prices and great finds if you spend some time there!

Seven Wonders Collective

Website

SWC is quite overpriced, but they have some of the greatest, most unique pieces. The Grand Street location in Brooklyn is my absolute fave. You have to be willing to make a splurge here, but if you are looking for something extra special or just want some good inspo, it’s worth the browse.

Manhattan Vintage Show

Website

Last but certainly not least is the Manhattan Vintage Show. I love checking out these big vintage pop-ups because even if you don’t buy anything, you always get so much inspiration. I really love to just look at interesting pieces, discover new brands/collections, and get lost in the vintage sauce. It definitely can be pricey, but a place where you will find incredibly special pieces.
